While neurotoxin injections in the glabella region can yield remarkable results, it’s essential to be aware of potential complications and offer appropriate post-injection guidance to minimise risks. One of the foremost concerns is the development of upper eyelid ptosis, which can become evident up to two weeks post-injection and may persist for two to four weeks thereafter.

To mitigate this risk, post-injection instructions are valuable, although clinical data do not conclusively demonstrate their efficacy in reducing ptosis or improving results. Some practitioners advise patients to refrain from activities such as bending over, applying pressure to the injection sites, or lying down for four hours following the procedure. Additionally, they recommend abstaining from exercise on the same day and avoiding active movement of the injected muscles for at least 90 minutes.

Alternate post-injection instructions include emphasizing the importance of refraining from exercise immediately after the procedure, as physical activity could potentially exacerbate bruising and discomfort.
